Trichologist Jarlath Burke AIT

Jarlath has worked in the hair industry for over 17 years and now specialises in hair loss and scalp care as a fully qualified Trichologist and hair aesthetics practitioner, based in Banbridge, Northern Ireland. Alongside his clinical work, he also lectures in hairdressing at a local college. His interest in hair loss began while completing his teaching qualifications, where he was first introduced to Trichology.

In 2021, Jarlath graduated from the Association of International Trichologists following a mentorship with Consultant Trichologist Eva Proudman, known for her role on the TV show The Hair Loss Clinic.

Building on this, he achieved a distinction in the IoT Level 5 Diploma in Clinical Trichology, in line with the NCFE standard, studying with the Institute of Trichologists on Harley Street, London, where he was also awarded the John Firmage Award. He also holds a Level 3 Diploma in Phlebotomy, allowing him to safely offer a wider range of clinical services.

Jarlath is a member of the Association of International Trichologists, providing certification and accreditation to practise Trichology worldwide. He is also currently part of an evidence-based hair fellowship programme with Dr Jeff Donovan — the first person in Ireland to be accepted onto the course.

Not all hair loss and scalp conditions are straightforward. That's why every consultation is thorough, covering medical history, medications, supplementation, family history, review blood tests nutrition and comorbidities alongside scalp analysis using a polarised trichoscope. This allows Jarlath to see beneath the superficial layers of the scalp to accurately diagnose hair and scalp conditions.

Through his clinic, Trichology NI, Jarlath offers in-depth consultations, wet and dry treatments, and works closely with GPs, dermatologists, and a compounding chemist to tailor treatments for patients with a wide range of conditions, including alopecia areata, telogen effluvium, androgenetic alopecia, and inflammatory scalp disorders. His approach combines clinical knowledge with a genuine passion for helping people regain confidence in their hair and scalp health.

If you're experiencing hair loss or a scalp condition and would like a professional assessment, book a consultation with Jarlath at Trichology NI today.
